The Second Epistle to the Thessalonians provides significant details about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Some examples include the ideas that the Lord will return in “flaming fire” and that the wicked will be “punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord” (2 Thessalonians 1:8–9).

The phrase “the evil one” refers to Satan, who is the enemy of God and a constant adversary of believers. He seeks to deceive, tempt, destroy, and lead astray God's children through various means, including persecution, temptation, and false teachings.

Context Summary

Second Thessalonians 3:6–15 addresses the sin of idleness. Paul calls on the church at Thessalonica to avoid any brother who makes idleness habitual. He reminds his readers that he and his associates were not idle when they were in Thessalonica.
